Facebook launched #100Women Initiative to recognize 100 womenThe Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) in collaboration with Facebook has launched the ‘#100Women Initiative’ that aims to recognize and acknowledge women who are making a difference in their communities, across the country.

The ‘#100Women Initiative’ involves a contest to select 100 women achievers of India through public nominations via social media.

“We don’t thank them enough. Here is your chance to honor the women who’ve made a difference to your community. Log on to the Facebook Page of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, share a video with us on why the woman you choose should be honored as India’s 100 most impactful Women.”, Maneka Gandhi added.

 India won 3-match ODI series against Zimbabwe by 3-0 

India won 3-match ODI series against Zimbabwe by 3-0India has thrashed Zimbabwe in the third and final ODI to win the three match series by 3-0. This is the third time when India has whitewashed Zimbabwe in a ODI tournament. Earlier in 2013 and 1993 India had done the same.

Centurion in the 3rd and the final ODI, Kedar Jadhav got the man-of-the-match award. Off-Spinner Harbhajan Singh won the stylish player award. Manish Pandey gots the trusted player of the match award. Zimbabwe’s Chamu Chibhabha got the most durable player of the match award. Ambati Rayudu was named as man of the series.

 Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela began in Nasik 

Kumbh-Mela NasikSimhastha Kumbh Mela, the largest congregation of faith in the world, began with the traditional ceremony of hoisting of flags and thousands of people taking a holy dip in Kushawart and Ramkund in Godavari river in the two towns.

The festival, known as the largest peaceful gathering, occurs once in 12 years as per Hindu calendar and is marked by participation of ‘sadhus’ from different denominations (akhadas), and lakhs of devotees. The festival will last for almost a year, according to a release issued by the Trimbakeshwar Purohit Sangh.

Nashik-Trimbakeshwar host Kumbh Mela when the Sun and Jupiter come together in Leo (‘Simha’) zodiac sign in the month of Magh as per the Hindu calendar.
