SBI PO Preliminary Exam 2015 : How to Prepare for Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English

To further note that SBI has changed its selection procedure for the recruitment. From this year onwards, the selection will be based in three phases consisting of Preliminary and Main Exam (to be conducted Online) and Group Discussion/Interview.

Only Quant, Reasoning and English: The first change you should know that SBI PO Preliminary Exam will have objective paper consisting of Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English. So, NO General Awareness, Computer Knowledge for Prelims. As you know, these three sections are the lengthiest ones for the paper and now they have become crucial for SBI PO recruitment.

Quantitative Aptitude NOT Data Interpretation & Data Analysis: Candidates should note that in Prelims, Quantitative Aptitude is there not Data Interpretation & Data Analysis. Rather Data Interpretation & Data Analysis is part of Main examination. Since no hint is given for the structure of Prelims, it will have questions from all the topics from Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation. Take Quant Practice Set

35 Questions Break up: Expect questions from all the topics from Quantitative Aptitude. Important Topics are:

  • Number System (5-7 Qns)
  • Percentage, Profit & Loss (5-7 Qns)
  • Ratio, Proportion & Variation (5-7 Qns)
  • Time, Speed & Distance (5-7 Qns)
  • Permutation Combination & Probability (3-5 Qns)
  • Data Interpretation & Analysis (8-10 Qns)

Reasoning: The Reasoning section will have same set of topics as asked in SBI PO Exam. This section will also have 35 questions in all. Take Reasoning Practice Set

35 Questions Break up: Expect questions from all areas of Reasoning. Important Topics are:

  • Coding-Decoding (2-3 Qns)
  • Direction Sense Test (1-2 Qns)
  • Alphabet Test (3-5 Qns)
  • Maths Operations, Inequalities (3-5 Qns)
  • Sitting Arrangement (5-7 Qns)
  • Analogy (Odd Pair) (3-5 Qns)
  • Data Sufficiency (3-5 Qns)
  • Input-output (5-7 Qns)

English Language: The English section will have same set of topics asked in SBI PO Exam. This section will have 30 questions in all. English Language can be sub divided into 3 parts – Grammar, Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary. Take English Language Practice Set

35 Questions Break up: Expect questions from all areas of English Language. Important Topics are:

  • Comprehension (8-10 Qns)
  • Sentence Arrangement (3-5 Qns)
  • Vocabulary (8-10 Qns)
  • Fill in the Blanks (3-5 Qns)
  • Sentence Correction (3-5 Qns)

Time Management: For solving 100 questions from Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English, only 1 hour (60 minutes) time is given. Therefore time management becomes very important during the exam. The candidates should divide the time equally. Ideally 20 minutes should be allotted to each section. The candidates should try to complete the whole paper in one go.
