Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in four sets to win his third Wimbledon and ninth Grand Slam title.

Federer, 33, had hoped to become the first man to win Wimbledon eight times.

By doing this, Sania Mirza created history by becoming the first female player from the country to win a women’s doubles Grand Slam trophy when she clinched the Wimbledon title with Swiss partner Martina Hingis, in London.
